Jeff Bezos identified an opportunity, at a time where the worldwide web was still rising and at the same time book stores were making a lot of money he launched an online bookstore earning him billions of dollars. Bezos has a passion for computers as he states in the video but opted to sell books online rather than anything else because it would have been profitable at the time.
